Mr. Jai Singh

Mr. Jai Singh, 26 years old, is a resident of Ramgarh, Shekhawati, Rajasthan. He was dependent on his father who is a Safai Karamchari. He wanted to take up some work to become self reliant as his previous salary was very low, and he was not able to contribute much in family. He came to know from his friend about the Skill Development Training Programmes of NSKFDC for Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependants and enrolled for the course of ‘Housekeeper cum Cook’. Mr. Jai Singh successfully completed the training programme of 3 months.  He was offered a private job from Dr. Arora, Homecare, Fatehpur as House Keeper at a salary of Rs 10000/- per month. He feels happy about his decision to enroll for this programme and looks forward to even better career opportunities in future.

Ms. Asha Devi, 34 years old, is a resident of Johripur, New Delhi. She was dependent on her husband who is a Safai Karamchari. She wanted to take up some work to become self reliant.  She came to know from a friend about the Skill Development Training Programmes of NSKFDC for Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependants and decided to enroll for the course of ‘Unarmed Security Guard’.

Ms. Asha Devi successfully completed the training course of 200 hrs.  She was offered a job from G4S secure solutions at Tronica City as security guard and she is to join on 12.06.2018 at a salary of Rs 14387/- per month.

She is excited about her new job and the fact that better family income would lead to better education for her children.

Ms. Priyanka, 26 years old, is a resident of Bhagirathi Vihar, Dayal Pur, New Delhi. She was dependent on her husband who is a Safai Karamchari. She wanted to take up some work to become self reliant and also contribute to the family income. She came to know about the Skill Development Training Programmes of NSKFDC for the Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependants and enrolled for the course of ‘Unarmed Security Guard’.

Ms. Priyanka successfully completed the training course of 200 hrs.  She was offered a job from Globe Security solutions at New Delhi Railway Station as security guard at a salary of Rs 12200/- per month besides other benefits. She is proud of her achievement and wants other from the marginalized communities to follow her footprints and become self reliant.

Mr. Karan Pal, 24 years old, is a resident of Vill- Bhmuiya Post-Asra SI, Dist- Badaun-243601 He was dependent on his father who is a Safai Karamchari. He wanted to take up some work to become self reliant as his previous earnings were very low, and he was not able to contribute much in family. He came to know through his friend about the Skill Development Training Programmes for Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependants and enrolled for the course of ‘MACHINE OPERATOR ASSISTANT- INJECTION MOULDING’.

Mr. Karan Pal successfully completed the training course of 3 months.  He was offered a private job from Poly Plastic Industries Pvt. Ltd. at Pune and presently employed there as a Machine Operator Assistant at a salary of Rs 12000/- per month.

He feels pride of his job and wants others from his community to avail the benefits of such schemes to move up in life.

Ms. Rakhi, 22 years old, is a resident of Sangam Vihar, New Delhi. She was dependent on her father who is a Safai Karamchari. Her father was not able to provide financial assistance for her higher studies. She came to know about the Skill Development Training Programme for Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependants through an Awareness Camp organized by NSKFDC and enrolled for the course of ‘Commercial Motor Driving’.

Ms. Rakhi successfully completed the training programme of 7 months duration and also learnt self defense and soft skills as integral part of the training programme. After completion of training, she continuously practiced driving and after completion of one year, she was able to obtain the commercial driving license. Now, she is a successful commercial driver and is employed in COLA CABS drawing salary of Rs 17000/- per month. She feels pride of her achievements and wants to encourage her peers, to come forward and avail the benefits of various scheme meant for them.

Ms. Beauty, 23 years old, is a resident of Sangam Vihar, New Delhi. She was dependent on her father who is a Safai Karamchari. She wanted to become self reliant.  She came to know from her friend about the Skill Development Training Programmes of NSKFDC for Safai Karamcharis, Scavengers and their dependants and enrolled for the course of ‘Commercial Motor Driving’.

Ms. Beauty successfully completed the training course of 7 months and also learnt self defense and soft skills as integral part of the training programme. After completion of training, she continuously practiced driving and after completion of one year, she was able to obtain the commercial driving license.  Now, she is a successful commercial driver and is employed with a Private employer at Nehru Place drawing a salary of Rs 9000/- per month.

Mr. Debashis Nath, 41 years old, is a resident of Ward No.33 under Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He used to work as a Safai Karmachari on contract basis in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Apart from working as a Safai Karmachari, he also used to work as a driver on part time basis.  He learnt about the loan scheme of NSKFDC from an awareness camp organised in his area. The WB SC ST Development & Finance Corporation sanctioned loan to him after considering his driving skill, industrious nature and poor economic conditions. He has engaged his vehicle with Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority. His present monthly income is about Rs.26000/- and he is paying the monthly EMI of Rs.15868/- on regular basis. He has one daughter, wife and dependant mother with increased monthly income and he has been able to send his daughter to school. Now, his standard of living has been improved.

Parubehen Chelabhai Bhangi is a resident of Banaskantha district in Gujarat. She is 40 year old, married and illiterate. She was a Safai Kamdar  and used to work in individual households. She is a Hindu and belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. Parubehen had availed loan under Mahila Samridhdhi Yojana. She had availed a loan of Rs. 35000 on 03.03.13 for purchasing Buffalo. Now, she earns a monthly income of Rs. 15000/- and is able to sustain her family of 5 members and provide support to her husband in meeting the monthly expenses through the income she receives from the economic activity. Parubehen was able to improve the living standard of her family. There was delay in repaying the loan amount by her due to poor economic condition of her family.

Satishbhai Ramjibhai Babariya is a resident of Ahmedabad district in Gujarat. He is 52 year old, married and has attained education till primary level. He is a Hindu and belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. Satishbhai was a Safai Karamchari and used to work in a factory prior to the economic activity he is presently involved. He had availed assistance under the Micro Credit Finance scheme. Before receiving assistance, he used to sweep roads and indoors. Satishbhai had availed a loan of Rs. 30000 on 07.01.2013 for selling iron instruments. He used to earn Rs. 4500 monthly while he used to work in the factory but now he earns Rs. 15000 monthly and is able to support his family of 5 members. He is able to support his son’s business and was able to marry his eldest son and eldest daughter with the money he earned through the present economic activity. Satishbhai is a successful beneficiary who has availed loan under NSKFDC schemes. 

Smt. Vandana, W/o Ashok Kumar, R/o Choni Khalet, Dr. Choni, Tehsil Palampur, Distrit Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. She belongs to Scavenger community. She wanted to be self-employed and undergone 6 months training in Cutting & Tailoring course during 2009 under SRMS. After getting training she had applied for loan of Rs.50,000/- for Cutting & Tailoring under SRMS. She was able to get a loan of Rs.50,000/- (including capital subsidy of Rs.12500/-) from Himachal Pradesh Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation. After starting her unit she was able to earn about Rs.6,500/- per month and out of total loan of Rs.37500/-, she has already repaid Rs.20,500/- upto July, 2012. She is running his business and is now living with self respect, dignity and pride in the society. She was advised to take second loan under NSKFDC scheme after full repayment of previous loan. She is a successful beneficiary.

Smt. Sunita, W/o Shri Rajesh Kumar is a resident of Kali Paltan, Vikas Nagar, District Tonk (Rajasthan) and belongs to the Manual Scavengers community. She was doing the work of manual scavenging and wanted to leave this inhuman work. She came to know about the Self Employment Scheme for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers (SRMS) implemented by NSKFDC in the State of Rajasthan. She had applied the loan for Aara Tari / Embroidery work at the District office Tonk of Rajasthan SC & ST Finance & Devp. Cooperative Corporation Ltd. She was granted loan of Rs.25000/- for the said work under SRMS. She was also given training and due to her hard work she is able to live with dignity and pride and her economic condition has also been improved.

Smt. Kavita Sunder Bahot, W/o Shri Sunder Bahot is a resident of Valmiki Nagar, Bharat Nagar, Bandra, Mumbai (Maharashtra) and belongs to the Manual Scavengers community. Earlier she was doing the work of manual scavenging and was not able to earn enough for livelihood of her family. She wanted to leave this inhuman work. She came to know about the Self Employment Scheme for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers (SRMS) implemented by NSKFDC in the State of Maharashtra. She had applied for loan for Vegetable Shop to the District office of Mahatma Phule Backward Class Devp. Corp. Ltd. She was granted loan of Rs.25000/-/- for Vegetable Seller under SRMS. After availing the loan, her financial condition has become good and is now repaying the loan installment regularly.

Shri Jaffarudin, S/o Shri Badrudin, R/o Gandhi Colony, District Dhar, Madhya Pradesh and belongs to the Manual Scavengers community. Earlier he was doing the work of manual scavenging and was not able to earn enough for livelihood of his family. He wanted to leave this inhuman work. He came to know about the Self Employment Scheme for Rehabilitation of Manual Scavengers (SRMS) implemented by NSKFDC in the State of Madhya Pradesh. He was sanctioned loan of Rs.1.00 lac for Building Material under SRMS. After availing the loan, his financial condition has become good. Now he is earning about Rs.10000/- per month and also repaying his loan installment timely.

Smt. Mariyammal, W/o Shri Jakkariya, R/o 93, Sathiyamoorthy Nagar, Ellaiyamman Koil Street, Thiruvottiyur, Thiruvalllur, Tamil Nadu was working in Thiruvottiyur Municipality as Scavenger. She is having four children. She came to know about the schemes of SRMS from the TAHDCO, District Manager Office. She was granted loan of Rs.80,000/- though Central Bank of India, Thiruvottriyur for Petty Shop Unit. After starting the business of Petty Shop she is running her family smoothly and economically. Her children are studying in Private English Medium School (Name: Our Lady). She is saving Rs.3000/- per month  after meeting all the expenses by her business.

Smt. Engammal, W/o Shri Vengaiya, R/o 69, Sathiyamoorthy Nagar, Ellaiyamman Koil Street, Thiruvottiyur, Thiruvalllur, Tamil Nadu belongs to scavenger family with four children. She came to know about the schemes of SRMS from the TAHDCO, District Manager Office. She was granted loan of Rs.25,000/- though Central Bank of India, Thiruvottriyur for Mobile Tiffin Stall. After starting the business she is earning Rs.15000/- per month. After this, she got 2nd loan of Rs.50,000/- for growth of her business. Now she is running her family smoothly and economically with the increased earning.

Rajeshbhai Chamanbhai Vaghela is a resident of Kachchh district in Gujarat. He is 40 years old, married and has attained education till middle school level. He is a Hindu and belongs to the Scheduled Caste community. Rajeshbhai was a Safai Karamchari and used to work in the Municipality Bhuj. He had availed assistance under the Term Loan scheme. He had availed a loan of Rs. 98827 on 11.06.09 for purchasing auto-rickshaw. He was very ashamed of the work he used to do earlier and is happy now that he was able to engage himself into an activity that earned him self-respect. He used to earn Rs. 3800 monthly while he used to work in the Municipality Bhuj while, now he saves Rs. 6000 monthly after meeting all the expenses and is able to support his family of 6 members. He is able to support his son’s business of photo-shop and is happy that his son is not a safai-karamchari like him. He is happy that he able to educate his other children so that they live a beautiful life. Rajeshbhai says that everyone should work hard to excel and has bright plans for future regarding better business opportunities.

Mr. Ashok Kumar Gupta, 37 years old, is a resident of Ward No. 58 under Kolkata Municipal Corporation. He was a Safai Karmachari and worked on contract basis in the Kilkata Municipal Corporation. Apart from the said work, he used to drive taxi at night in Kolkata area, on daily wage basis. He learnt about the loan scheme of NSKFDC from one his friends. The WB SC ST Development & Finance Corporation sanctioned loan after considering his driving skill, hard working nature and poor socio-economic conditions. His vehicle is now engaged with the WB SC ST Development & Finance Corporation for duty. His present monthly income is about Rs.19,700/- and he is paying the monthly EMI of Rs.11700/- on regular basis. His son and daughter studying in class V and II respectively in English Medium Schools. With his increased income, he has been able to send his children to school. Now, his standard of living has been improved.
