I. Introduction
NAMASTE, the National Action for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem, is a central sector scheme jointly implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). The scheme's primary objective is the complete mechanization of sewer and septic tank cleaning operations across all cities, replacing manual methods with machine-based solutions. The focus is on empowering and supporting the sewer and septic tank cleaning workers (SSWs) as the target group.
